Bessie

$64.00

Elizabeth “Bessie” Marburg was one of the first female theatrical and literary agents and producers. She counted Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw among her clients, and was an early promoter of many Harlem Renaissance writers. She is credited with the development of the early “Book Musical” that has defined Broadway as we know it. She joined her partner, Elsie de Wolfe, Anne Tracy Morgan and Anne Harriman Vanderbilt to form the Colony Club, New York’s first social club for women.

Bessie is the first squirrel! She is about thirteen inches tall. She is constructed of recycled denim and wool. She wears a vintage handkerchief with yo-yos for trim.
