Asa Blanchard is known as the most prolific silversmith in Kentucky.  He was also a clock and watchmaker. He opened his shop in Lexington at the corner of Mill and Short Streets in 1810 where he conducted business for 38 years. His silver work was owned by some of the most prominent Kentuckians of the day, including Henry Clay and Isaac Shelby.  A tall case clock by Blanchard is part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. He took on many apprentices who also went on to become renowned in the field. At his death, in 1838, he had amassed a fortune worth $40,000 (the equivalent of $1.4 million today).

Asa is constructed of recycled wool, dressed in wool suiting and stuffed with denim. He is approximately 13”tall.
