Carl – Axel Soderstrom, a Swedish photographer and cinematographer, met Clarenore Stinnes on May 23, 1927. Two days later, they set off on what would be a two year journey to circumnavigate the globe by car. The trip was sponsored by the German automotive industry. Clarenore would be the first to drive around the world, and Carl – Axel would document it. When they returned, they got married and settled on a farm in Sweden.
Carl Axel stands approximately 12 inches tall. He is constructed of recycled wool and stuffed with repurposed denim. He wears a combination of flannel corduroy and fair isle wool.
