Clarenore
In 1929, German racecar driver Clarenore Stinnes, became the first person to circumnavigate the globe by car. She was accompanied by a Swedish camera man, two mechanics, an escort truck and her dog. As they crossed Siberia and the Gobi desert, they dealt with multiple repairs, exploding tires and treacherous weather. The mechanics threw in the towel. Undeterred, they ditched the escort truck and sailed to South America. There they had to be pulled from quicksand, and they drink water from the radiator to prevent dehydration. She finished the journey of 29,054 miles in two years and one month with her dog and cameraman, whom she later married.
Clarenore stands approximately 12 inches tall she is constructed of recycled wool and stuffed with repurposed denim. She wears a cashmere sweater and a vintage handkerchief skirt.
