Daniel

$54.00

For years, a large, framed print of George Caleb Bingham’s “Daniel Boone Escorting Setters through the Cumberland Gap” hung at the head of my grandparents’ dining room table.  Boone began his legendary explorations of Kentucky in 1767 and his successes as a hunter, fighter, surveyor and woodsman loom large in Kentucky history.  Bingham’s portrayal of him was not the folksy coonskin capped image.  Those were inaccurate and exaggerated but were a boon to early promoters of Kentucky tourism.  Many a rock or tree were inscribed with his accomplishments (i.e. “D. Boon kilt a bar here”).  But Boone’s true story is enough to make him larger than life.

Daniel is constructed of recycled wool and wears a silk tie. He stands approximately 10” tall.
