Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Fontaine Fox, Jr, was a cartoonist and illustrator. He started his career with the Louisville Herald, sketching one cartoon a day. He is best known for his comic strip “Toonerville Folks” which ran in 250 to 300 papers across the country from 1913 to 1955. Both the suburbs of Louisville and the town of Pelham, New York claim to be the inspiration for one of the country’s most popular cartoon strips.

Fontaine is constructed of recycled cashmere, dressed in wool and stuffed with denim. He stands approximately 13” tall.
