Frances Perkins was a social worker and first woman to serve in the US Cabinet. In her tenure as Secretary of Labor, she was responsible for the Social Security Act, establishment of a minimum wage, and drafting of child labor laws. She was one of only two cabinet members to maintain their position for Roosevelt’s entire presidency.

Frances is crafted from a double knit suit that appeared to be home sewn. Her satin nose is a cluster of French knots. Her top is made using a vintage cotton handkerchief with crocheted trim.
