Mary Becker Greene was born in 1867. She was the only licensed female steamboat captain on the Ohio River. She and her husband were co-owners of the Greene Line Steamers. She captained ships on the river for over 50 years. She died at the age of 80 on board the Delta Queen, the Greene Line’s most famous steamboat.
