Otis Boykin was an American inventor. His father was a carpenter and preacher. His mother was a maid and died of heart failure when he was a baby. He attended Fisk University in Nashville, earning a degree in engineering. He developed precision wire resistors used in counters, television, radios, guided missiles and pacemakers. His work on the pacemakers was a tribute to his mother. Ironically, he died of heart failure at age 62. He had 26 patents to his name.

Otis is constructed and dressed in recycled wool and stuffed with denim. He stands approximately 13” tall.
