Sophonisba Angusciola Sellers was an ornithologist and noted quilt maker. Names for an Italian Renaissance painter, she was the first American woman to collect and prepare bird species for scientific study. A sample of her quilting is on display at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Sophonisba is hand stitched from recycled wool and stuffed with recycled denim. She wears a vintage quilt square dress and stand approximately 15” tall.
