Sheltowee

I live in the Daniel Boone National Forest and the Sheltowee Trace trail, named for Daniel Boone’s famed nickname, runs through our county. Sheltowee means ‘turtle,’ so we have an affinity for turtles around here.

These turtles are hand stitched recycled wool and adorned with quilt patterns, which are also an homage to my Appalachian home. They are stuffed with recycled denim and are approximately 7 inches long.
